Keep our culture strong!

We opened with drumming, and a call delivered in the Ewe language of Togo and Ghana: Miale bena miafe Dekonuwo ~ Keep our culture strong! After a brief introduction, two Aboriginal storytellers took to the stage. As with all our previous storytellers this was a new experience for them, and they had to summon all their courage to open our show!

Several of our shows have closed with a gesture of appreciation from the audience. We ask them to show the storytellers in body language how they feel after listening to the stories. Each time, the response is a warm and heartfelt expression of our joy and pride in the moment.

On the weekend before the show, Rosemary and Conrad visited Christland and Mavis. They shared stories about the Rainbow Serpent, finding metaphysical connections which bubbled over into laughter. And intense drumming!
